The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were adopted in 2015 by the United Nations. The purpose of these 17 linked goals is to help individuals and communities to work together to overcome poverty, protect our fragile planet with the endeavor that by 2030, people everywhere will be able to live in peace together.
Importantly SDG are designed to eliminate poverty, hunger, and AIDS worldwide, and end discrimination against women and girls. To make this possible everyone has to play their part. We know that the Pandemic, wars, and instability in many places, are a challenge to our progress towards 2030.
UN Agencies for example, UN Women and UNEP, are working hard to support programs that assist communities to overcome obstacles towards sustainable development
