Parliamentary Communications training on “Techniques to Create Content for Social Media”
The PCAsia Programme on Parliamentary Communications’ aim is to strengthen the capacity of parliamentary staff to better support the parliamentary communication work of their Parliaments.
To better support parliamentary communication work, staff requires more specific knowledge and skills on “Techniques to create content for social media”.
Objectives
To enhance the knowledge and skills of Lao parliamentary trainees on the use of tools, especially the moder application to create content for parliamentary social media.
Pedagogical approach

- Learning by doing: Practical exercise(s) to apply learned skills in an actual parliamentary situation

Target audience and beneficiaries
Target trainees are parliamentary staff officers of the Lao National Assembly, including from the Provincial People’s Assemblies (PPAs), especially those from media and IT-related fields of work.
Delivery timeline and venue
This training will be conducted face-to-face in Vientiane Capital, at the National Assembly Building, Lao PDR, and delivered in Lao from 10 – 14 March 2025.
Training Methods:
The course will adopt a blended learning approach, combining theory with hands-on practice. Each day will include a combination of:
- Lectures for introducing core concepts and strategies.
- Workshops and practical exercises to apply skills in real-world scenarios.
- Group discussions and peer learning to encourage collaborative problem-solving and idea-sharing.
- Real-life case studies from successful political campaigns and social media strategies.

Day 2: Visual Content Creation: Photography and Graphic Design

Day 3: Video Production and Editing Techniques
- Introduction to Video Editing
- Script Writing for Video Clips
- Practical Video Editing Workshop
- Practical Script Writing Exercise
Day 4: Leveraging AI Tools for Content Creation and Efficiency
- The Importance of Video in Public Engagement
- Fundamentals of Video Storytelling

Day 5: Social Media Management, Posting, and Promotion
- Advanced Video Editing
- Optimizing Video Content for Social Media
- Final Project and Group Presentations

Expected participants for targeted 15 parliamentary staff from the National Assembly of Lao PDR and Provincial People’s Assemblies from 10 – 14 March 2025.
